Davido Thrills Toronto, Honours Highlife Legend Daddy Lumba During 5IVE Alive Tour

Nigerian Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido brought an electrifying performance to the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto as part of his 5IVE Alive Tour, on Saturday night, July 26, 2025. captivating thousands with a mix of Afrobeats energy and heartfelt moments. The highlight of the evening came when Davido took time to pay tribute to Ghanaian highlife icon Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier.

Performing one of Daddy Lumba’s timeless hits, ‘Aben Wo Ha’, Davido dedicated the song to the late artist, calling him “a legend whose influence knew no borders.”

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died in the early hours of July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a brief illness. He was 60 years old. His death was confirmed in an official statement by Baba Jamal & Associates, representing the Fosu family, describing the musician as “a national treasure” and “a cultural icon whose music transcended generations.”

The statement read:

“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives. His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience.”
